Fireweed Studios: Information for Artists
Fireweed is home to a small retail shop and three artist studios. Owner and founder Katie Cooney occupies Studio #2 for her own practice as a photographer and illustrator. Other studios operate on a 6 or 12-month lease, with the opportunity to renew. Read on for more information about renting a studio at Fireweed.
As a Fireweed Artist in Residence, you receive the following benefits:

As an Artist In Residence at Fireweed, you are guaranteed space in Pop-Up Markets and Lot Markets. Non-Resident artists are juried by ownership for entry.

As a member of the Fireweed Family, we will occasionally ask for studio updates and images to share via our newsletter and Fireweed’s social media.
Upon request, Resident Artists may access Fireweed’s email network to promote their work, open studio, or other relevant news. Newsletters must be crafted and shared with Katie.

As an Artist in Residence, you have the option and opportunity to sell your work at Fireweed. A headshot of you and snapshot of your work may be shared as a “Featured Artist” within the shop.
Original pieces are sold on commission at 70% artist / 30% shop rate. Reproductions and other products will be purchased at Wholesale Rate by the shop and sold by Fireweed Shop.
Example:
Camille would like to use wall space to sell an original painting piece. This piece would be sold on commission.
Camille would also like to sell prints of the same original piece. Prints of the piece would be purchased at a wholesale rate and sold by Fireweed.
Studio #3
Dimensions: 11’ x 11’
Info: Studio #3 is an 11’ x 11’ room featuring a private entrance, south-facing window, and access to the bathroom. Studios feature basic, flatweave carpet that is easy to maintain and vacuum.
Rent & Lease Terms: 12-month lease. First and deposit required. The option to prepay multiple months is available. Because of the time-intensive nature of renting and moving artists in and out of our studios, we do not allow subletting of studio space.
Monthly rent includes water, heat, electricity, garbage, and plowing. If your practice requires heavy use of utilities beyond typical use, additional fees may be incurred. Internet may be available for a small additional fee, please inquire with Katie for more information.

Studio #4
Dimensions: 11’ x 11’ + storage room
Info: Studio #4 is an 11 x 11’ room featuring a private entrance, south-facing window, and access to the bathroom. Studio #4 also features a small additional 5’10 x 4’6’ storage room with a window, perfect for a desk or storing extra supplies. Studios feature basic, flatweave carpet that is easy to maintain and vacuum.
Rent & Lease Terms: 12-month lease. First Month’s Rent and deposit required. The option to prepay multiple months is available. Because of the time-intensive nature of renting moving artists in and out of our studios, we do not allow subletting of studio space.
Monthly rent includes water, heat, electricity, garbage, and plowing. If your practice requires heavy use of utilities beyond typical use, additional fees may be incurred. Internet may be available for a small additional fee, please inquire with Katie for more information.

Availability: Rented until February 2023
Shared Restroom
Artists in residence at Fireweed have access to a shared bathroom space just past Studio #4. The expectation is that all tenants will share cleaning duties of the restroom and either pitch in or pool funds for consumables such as paper towels, cleaning supplies, trash bags, and toilet paper.
The bathroom will be outfitted with a utility sink for washing paintbrushes. Please do not pour paint or other thick materials directly down any drains.
