About Fireweed (the plant!)

FIREWEED
(CHAMAENERION ANGUSTIFOLIUM):

Fireweed has a propensity for being one of the first blooms to arrive after a wildfire, hence its name. Fireweed is known as an early successional species and plays a critical role in helping ecosystems recover from wildfire. Once fireweed is established in an area, it uptakes and recycles nutrients from the soil, making them more readily accessible to neighboring plants. As a late-season bloomer, fireweed is also an important resource for many pollinators across its widespread habitat.

Fireweed also acts as a visual manifestation of nature’s calendar – it draws information from the soil, air temperature, and precipitation, and blooms in accordance. Fireweed blooms from the bottom to the top, with the final blooms usually marking the end of summer and the beginning of a new season.

SO… WHY FIREWEED?

Fireweed Shop & Studios creates opportunities for both local and regional to grow, flourish, and thrive through our retail space. Our space serves as a hub and home for creative expression and inspiration in our small mountain town, Driggs. Where we thrive, you thrive.
